About the Designer

As with many costumers, I began as a dancer. Growing up in northern California I danced with a few regional companies; Ballet Circle and Sacramento Ballet. I received my BA in Dance at Brigham Young University while I performed and toured with BYU Theater Ballet. But, at one point I had changed my major to fashion design where I learned flat pattern design and draping skills. I was able to combine those experiences by completing a MA in dance, with my thesis on Costuming for Dance.

I taught for years and even danced a little professionally with Utah Contemporary Dance Theater (now Odyssey) but it became difficult with small children. So I spent the next 12 or so years creating ballet, jazz, and skating costumes. At one point we were producing about 800 costumes a year! Then we moved to St. George, Utah where I began teaching again, taking a little break from the costume business. Back in business now-- with the creative fire rekindled and refined, I hope to help companies all over expand their costume possibilities with artistic excellence!.
